About Me

My photo
I am 19 years old now. It seems like time is going fast, and I am not always sure how to handle it! I started college August 2014. I am studying psychology at North Central University, meeting new people, and drawing closer to God with each step I take. Life is not a destination, it is a long journey. I am excited to see what God has in store for my life, and I hope you will join me as I find out!

Fine Arts Begins

OK, so we have been preparing for our local fine arts festival since about January. I entered nine things this year. NINE!!! That' s a lot, but considering their goal is to help teens discover,
develop, and deploy their gifts, I think that's OK. Anybody curious what I entered? Here goes...

Visual Art 3-D.
I made the heart out of paper mache. The chain represent how we are with sin, we must be set free, and God is the only one that can do that.

Visual Art 2-D.
Yes, the girl is actually cutting. I wanted to show that no matter how bad you are hurting, God can heal you, He can help you get through it.

T-Shirt Design.
I love this. I also love that I can now wear a T-shirt that I designed.

I illustrated a Children's book that my sister wrote.
Yes, the illustrations are actually done in construction paper shapes! It was hard, but in the end I liked the end result.

Digital Photography.
This picture was taken after a long day of doctors appointments. Angelica had just had an echo, because we were just figuring out that something was wrong with her, and they thought it was the heart. We came home to a beautiful sunset, and I climbed the tree. We were all worshiping God, in awe of His wonder and knowing that whatever happens, God will take care of us.

This was my short sermon.
The theme this year was relentless.

Our troupe dance.
We danced to "Orphan" by Rachel Scott

My solo dance.
I danced to "Beautiful, beautiful," by Francesca Battistelli. I love the dress!

And, last but not least, my human video.
Viewer discretion is advised. Parents may want to watch this before letting their children see it. For those of you who don't know, a human video is effectively a drama to lyrics. You must mouth the majority of the words, and you can make no sound.

So, it being after the festival, I can tell you that two of the things got to Nationals.  I will post later about what made it.  For now, you can enjoy pictures and video's of my performances.

art, art, and more art!

Today, we went to the art museum!  It was way cool.  I remebered the camera, and took tons of pictures.  Unfortunatley, not very many of me.  This one was my favorite girl.  The picture doesn't do her justice, in the painting, she looked almost real.  Every detail is very good, right down to the hands and toes, which I may tell you are very hard to get proportioned correctly.

Here are a couple others.  Have you ever looked at a painting and just thought WOW.  thats what I did with these.  They are absolutley beautiful!  These two are about cincinnatti and the river front.
Then, there was the castle and the water around it. Absolutley gorgeous!

These were by far,  I tkink my favorite.  Abstract Art.  Totally cool!
And that concludes our tour of the museum.  Actually, there is more, but that's all I will show you.

(OK, that took a while to publish. I wasn't done, but I will enjoy having the memory. I wouldn't be able to add to it now, so we will leave it at this! 10-4-14)

Happy Halloween

Last Night we went trick or treating with Songbird and friends. It was so fun. We walked around and had a bunch of laughs together. I was a Vampiress. Loved the costume. We sprayed Black into my Hair and I made the mask. Not a very mean vampire. Hmm, I should fix that.
FigNewTon was a rock star. Lovin it!!

The eyes are the best, you know, since I helped with them. :) lol

Ok, Here is my mean Vampiress.

OK , after getting three hours of sleep, saying goodbyes, and a change of planes, we have arrived at our destination. I am so not ready for this. Too late, we're here.

We are now getting settled and unpacking for a month at Mrs Autumns house.

The Orange Fish

Yesterday, our family went to the aquarium. We had lots of fun. When we got to the octopus tank, he was actually out! There were lots of exotic fish. At every tank, we tried to find all of the fish listed. It was cool. We saw lots of cool fish. There were some that were really wacky, and some that were really colorful. My favorite was this one:
It is called a Garibaldi fish. They live in north-eastern subtropical parts of the pacific ocean. It is the official marine state fish in California where it is protected in coastal waters. Yes, the fish is actually this bright!

Hi!

OK. I'm back to blogging. But not exactly. I still don't remember anything from before and still call it my website sometimes. BUT I will get better. Because I have been called by God and to get where HE wants me to be, I need all of my brain cells.

Aside from that though, it's still hard.
It's hard when mom says something that has happened in the past six years and I don't remember it. This also makes me sad.
It's hard when I need to sleep for 16 hours a day.
It's hard when I am so dizzy.
And it's hard when there is not a lot of progress.

But I'm complaining. Mom says that each bump could send me back to the beginning. Or worse.

So I can be thankful.
I can be thankful for each step of progress.
I can be thankful for the good moments I remember from when I was eight.
And I am back to blogging. That is a step in the right direction.

For starters, I am going to begin doing a scrapbook of things that I do remember. I will backdate these things, so they are in order like a scrapbook. And a journal, because mom thinks it will help me to get my feelings out. Then they are not all boxed up.

The Royals Game

We went to a Royals game. It was fun, and very hot! FigNewTon and I both started wetting our caps every time they got dry. The Royals won!
The final score was Las Vegas 4, Royals 8!

After the game there were fireworks!

Then there was a Big Daddy Weave concert to top it all off!

Feeding the Ducks

We took FigNewTon to feed the ducks last Wednesday.
When we gave the ducks the bread, they all refused it.
Even the mom and her babies wouldn't take it.

I guess they were just being "ungrateful retches." :D

So... we moved on to the geese.
They were really hungry!

I think this one needs to work on his ostrich impression!

FigNewTon showed us the duck walk
that she had to do to get her mail at camp.

Then I did it, too.

We had tons of fun!

Bubble Fun

I figured out how to make "the biggest bubbles ever"
one day while doing dishes. The thing in our hands is the
top of a two liter soda bottle that we use as a funnel. We now make bubbles every time we wash it.

My bubble is bigger than FigNewTons!

At least...

... I think it is!

When FigNewTon's Away...

... Mom and I will play.

We worked in the garden... ...a lot!
I played dress-up.
We found a fountain.
Went to see Mall Cop.
And fed the ducks and geese.
We went wading at the lakes with MissH.
Found a butterfly in the grill of Mr.B's jeep.
Found some really big "dandelions."
(MissH says they are thistles.)
Put together a really hard puzzle.
And mostly just enjoyed hanging out together.
Looking forward to FigNewTon coming home tomorrow (but don't tell her :D)!

FigNewTon-GONE!

FigNewTon left yesterday morning for camp! She is going to a camp that I went to 2 years ago. This is her first time at camp because when I went, she was too sick to go. Now we've traded places! There are 2 differences though:

1. Our brain issues are different

2. She will go to 2 camps instead of one

The first one our church's camp. She will be there until Friday. The next one is a camp by the Salvation Army. I have not gone to the Salvation Army Camp.
In FigNewTon's bag for the first camp, Mom put several different snacks with a little "I Love You" note. I wrote her notes, one for every day. I'm sure She will have fun.

Family

OK, here goes. My family is small. There is Mom, FigNewTon, and me.

Mom is great. She understands when I don't remember something she said 2 or 3 days ago. She is Gentle yet firm in her teachings, and brings us up in the way of the LORD. She tries her best to understand what it is like to have a TBI ( Traumatic Brain Injury) or Dain Bramage. :)

Yet nobody can quite understand unless they've had a brain injury. With my recent brain injury, I think and respond like I'm anywhere from 8 to 14. Usually around 10. Yet always FigNewTon is 12. She is not used to being the oldest yet.

FigNewTon is younger than me. Yet in many ways, she seems like the older sibling sometimes. FigNewTon is a quiet yet complex young lady. She enjoys ice skating and is very social with friends. She chooses her friends very carefully. At this point, she is homeschooled. This was so that it would be possible to continue ice skating. Read Mom's view and how she got the name here:

Me, I'm not popular, but not unpopular. I like to hang out with our family and have a family night together. Before the brain injury, I participated in all kinds of sports. That's not allowed anymore. I also got straight A's without trying. Now I struggle a lot in school and it's hard for me. I get A's and B's in school and I try my best. Mom says that's enough.
